If you do not know the radon level in your home, we would recommend getting your home tested as soon as possible.

The (MDH) Minnesota Department of Health has the following guidelines for radon levels:

  • 0-1.9 (pCi/L) - retest every 2-5 years
  • 2-3.9 (pCi/L) - consider a radon mitigation system
  • 4 or greater - highly recommend a radon mitigation system

According to the Environmental Protection Agency:

Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and is the second leading cause of lung cancer in smokers.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health:

"Radon is a serious public health concern in Minnesota. The average radon level in Minnesota is more than three times higher than the U.S. radon level. This is due to our geology and how our homes are operated. Minnesota homes are closed up or heated most of the year, which can result in higher levels of radon. In Minnesota, more than two in five homes have radon levels that pose a significant health risk."

Every state is different with what are, or whether there are, requirements associated with providing radon measurement and/or radon mitigations. Click HERE to be directed to the Environmental Protection Agency's radon protection programs to find your state requirements.

For example: South Dakota does not have state licensing requirements, only national certification. This could pose a problem to the quality of work done in your home in Minnesota if you contract someone that is not actually licensed in this state.

Minnesota Department of Health requires that ALL professionals and companies that measure for radon, mitigate for radon, or perform radon analysis in the State of Minnesota ARE required to be licensed and use system tags.

We hope you choose Triple C for your radon testing and mitigation needs but if we are unable to help, HERE is the link to find qualified providers near you.
